A Day Out on the Town

My friend Dixie, is living in Twin Falls at an assisted living place.
I took her and a couple of her friends to lunch this week.
This may seem nice, but it was an adventure for me.

First of all, Dixie wanted a fish sandwich,
-which they don't have at McAllisters-
Then she just wanted a hamburger,
-which they don't have-
Then she didn't want any sides, just an ice cream,
-which they don't have at McAllisters-

In the end, she was happy with what I ordered for her.
We had a nice visit.
When we left, the other two little ladies said,
"Boy am I happy I have a house to go home to."

I couldn't agree more.

It is fun to hear them talk about how things used to be.
They have been friends for many, many years.

I have been working on putting pictures into my 52 questions.
I wish there were more stories about how things were
from my grandparents.

Make sure you share your stories.
Someone will want to hear them someday.

Millennials

You are never going to believe this, but I stayed home this week.
Well, I did go to Boise one day this week.

So that left me the rest of the week home.

I usually love my summers.
The weather is perfect in Idaho,
I love to go to Water Aerobics  every day.
I take care of my flowers and garden.
And I sew.
Life is pretty much perfect.

This year, I am sharing my house with 2 of my sons.
They are,, what I like to think of as, Millennials.

I have done a lot of reading about Millennials,
because my children fit in the age group,
but I haven't lived with my children for many years.
They have been away at school.

So here I sit with two of them.
One 26 and one 20.
They are suppose to be working.
Not looking for work, but working.

At some point this week, I told them just that.
And I told them that they needed to be working in 2 weeks
or move to an area where there is more employment.

Interesting things happen when you say this.
I think the 26 year old is moving and the 20 year old is going to work.

I, on the other hand, will keep busy and try to be patient.

Pacific Ocean

I can't tell a lie.
I love to see the Pacific Ocean.

Wes was pretty excited to use his boogie board.

We went to Dillon Beach.
It was also  pretty cold.

I was happy when the sun came out.
-I don't know why I always forget a hat, but this one is staying in the car-

The marine layer had been so thick and then it lifted in a heart beat.

Always makes me think of 'Here Comes the Sun'

We went to Bodega Bay for dinner.
It was delicious.

A Visit from the Grand Daughters.

We have had a visit from our grand daughters.

They love to help me with things in the kitchen.

We spent a lot of time on the swings.

It took 3 adults to take 3 kids to the pool.
For the record, I used to take 5 kids to the pool by myself.
I'm not sure what happened.

They love their Uncle Richard.

We had a little ice cream by the pool.

We had fireworks before it was dark.
The girls went to bed,
I have no idea how they slept through the
wild firework shows around here.

And what is a summer gathering without some baseball?

Two years is a long, long time

We were happy to get home and and pick up Richard.
I am happy to have him home,
and happy not to send another one out.

Before Keith went on his mission,
we bought a van.

I always told Rich that we picked up his brothers in this van,
and we would pick him up in it too.

It has been 12 years, and it has delivered all my boys safely home.

Family Time

I have a son getting a PhD at Duke.

To be honest,
I have never really thought about Duke.
But now that I have my grand children there,
I think about it all the time.

Here are some pictures of the Duke Gardens.

Then we visited the chapel.

It was pretty amazing.

We enjoyed it..

They had air conditioning.

We also took a little trip to the Outer Banks.

Wes was very excited to visit Kitty Hawk.

Kitty Hawk was okay,
but the beach was great.

I love my toes in the sand.

This is the way to have a beach day.

The sand was good for digging.

We bought boogie boards at the grocery store.

The morning walks were awesome.
Dolphins were swimming around out there.
Couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Everything about the South is Civil War related.
There are 4 Civil War light houses.

We only visited this one.

Which means I will have to go back to see the other 3.

I really want to take my entire family.
I would love to spend some time at the beach with them.

Small towns on my road trip

We went on this amazingly long road trip.

I have decided to share it in a couple of posts.

First we were kinda tired of I-80
and we found another road.

It just happened to pass through Hamilton Missouri.

It was after 5, so everything was closed,
but it was fun to drop by and see this place.

The next day,
we happened to drive through
Paducah Kentucky.

Well, we had to stop at the National Quilt Museum.
I have been aware of it for about 15 years.
I never thought I would go to it.
It was beautiful, inspiring, and truly, the icing on the cake.

Now, lets talk about the ride home.

We went to The Merc, in Pawhuska Oklahoma.

It was very fun also.

The lemonades were huge.

You have to wait in a long line for lunch,

but it was worth it.

Another small town that I enjoyed.
