The end of an Era

Here are some thoughts on moving my parents out of their home.

When you set a date and your siblings are gonna meet to move and clean out the house, show up. There is just no way not to have feelings about the one who stayed home.  So if you're healthy, be there. No excuses.  Be there.

Work on the job that you are good at. I guess that means that my oldest sister is good at walking around bossing us around but not actually working. Still better than not showing up.

Don't become emotionally involved with the stuff. It's just stuff.

It was hard not to bring this home, but I haven't seen it in 50 years so I'll probably be okay.

Be prepared to find anything and then laugh when you find a 20 year old six-pack.

And be prepared to cry when your mothers neighbors come by to tell her goodbye.  They have been such a blessing to each other.  There are good people everywhere.

And when you finish cleaning out 50 years of memories and stuff and junk know that everyone has to go through this process.

Better days will come

Sweet Sprouts

I went out to feed the birds and noticed a couple of old faithful Sprouts.

Early tulips. They are red and yellow. They come back every year to my delight.

I love to use fresh garlic so I planted some. Hope it grows and gives me some fresh garlic.

Rose Bushes

There is something so therapeutic about cutting back rose bushes.  I didn't do it last year and have been planning on cutting them back since July.
I like to do it around valentines day. They should be dormant when you cut them back. But we still had to much snow in February.  The thaw has been slow. I could get to them last week, but it was cold and windy.  So yesterday was a win-win. No snow-no wind.

I started here and finished here.

Sometimes I get carried away and wonder if I went too far, but roses a resilient; they always come back.

They are lot like people. Life gets messy. Sometimes we need to clean out our lives. We always come back. Always.

Not to disappoint us. The weather gave us this on Wednesday.

And I thought to myself, Summer always comes. Every year.

Have Mercy.

Getting Back to Normal

It's been a long, cold Winter. This week has been a little better. March definitely came in like a lion. It is warmer and there is only a little bit of snow left.

I am busy and enjoying the happy moments at school when they are learning and not talking.

I have two new students. One is a girl who started with us and then moved. I'm so happy that she is back. Can't wait to get her learning the alphabet.
