I Need to Plant Something!

I was having one of those days where my plans where not working out.

I thought,
I need to  plant something.

A little time in the back yard did the trick for me.

I pulled a few weeds and planted some strawberries.
I planted too late last year.
I was just outside and the newbies are loving their new home.

In the end, I finished my list of things to do this weekend.

Turned out planting something was a good idea.

I love this earth we live in.
It is beautiful.

Happy Earth Day.

All Day Kinder

It has been a busy week and
I have had a lot of meetings.

One of the meeting was about all day Kindergarten.

I don't think I could have sent my own kids to all day Kinder.
However, I have had a change of heart.

My students need to learn to speak English, so I want them all day.
Having said that, I must admit that I love sending my morning class home everyday.

Standards are set so that when kids leave Kinder, they should be reading and writing.

Here is the thing.
My kids went to a play based Kinder.
They turned out okay.
They can all read,
They all went to college.
Most of them have or will have a Master Degree.
Does it matter if you read in Kinder?

These are questions I ask myself every day.

First Blooms

We had a pretty hard freeze the other morning,
but these guys came out this weekend.

 I love these tulips.
They can't decide if they are red or yellow.

 These are Lucy's tulips.
She missed them by one week.

And these pansies have hung in there since their early arrival in February.
Pansies are tough, so if anyone ever calls you a Pansy,
take as a complement.

And then there are these pictures.
They make my heart sad.

My little Canadians, in their new Spring dresses, shoveling snow.

I want them to know that warmer days are ahead.
I can't wait to see a picture of a flower from them.

Spring Break

We started our Spring Break in North Carolina.
It is so pretty there.

We were happy to have some outside time.
Really, they are happy, they just didn't want their picture taken.

We were there for a first birthday.
This little girl is so sweet and loves her mommy.

We went to an Easter party.
It was pretty fun.

If nothing else, to see my grands sitting in a Duke classroom.

When we came home, we had a visit from our Canadian family.

I was happy to have an outdoor egg hunt.

And that they could get outside and play in the sunshine.

Yes, she is wearing water wings.

They are growing up way toooooo fast for me.

My tulips came up for Easter.

I love how the earth reminds us of new life.

It is hard to forget the Savior, when nature reminds us that He loves us.
