Letters to the White House

We only had a two day work week this week. What?  Really? I am so sick of snow..... Let me start again. This week at work my students wrote letters to President Trump. We followed the election, We talked about the inauguration.  So for President's Day, it seemed natural to write him a letter. We looked at pictures of the White House. We read a book about White House pets. -they really enjoyed that- and we wrote letters. I wrote a cover letter and sent them to Pennsylvania Ave. I couldn't write what I wanted to in that cover letter, so I will write it now. Dear President Trump, I teach 1st grade in a small dairy town in Southern Idaho. My students come from families  that have come here, to Idaho, to work on the dairies. They work hard. They are focused on family and making a better life for them. It has been my experience that there is always one person in the family that is here illegally. Please don't throw them out...

Shoe Shopping

Sometimes you need a little time away. I am always ready for some time away in February. It happens every year. I just need some shoe shopping time. So we went to Provo to visit Callie. I miss that girl and she makes a great shoe shopping companion. It turns out that Spencer and Wes can keep themselves busy also.  As for the shoes,  well, I ended up with two pair of sandals. I'm very aware that I can't wear them for a while, but I will be so ready when I can. We also went to a museum and used our selfie stick.  It was a gift.   Poor Spencer.

I just can't decide

I woke up this morning and thought I would blog about the three branches of Government. You know?   Executive Legislative and Judicial. And then I thought about posting some pictures of our recent flooding in the Magic Valley. What happens when 3 feet of snow melts in 2 days? A lot of sandbags. Rivers running through town, and country roads flooded big time. Not to mention roads falling apart. -we were very lucky and didn't have any flooding in our basement- Then I started watching the Oroville Dam because, well, most of my family lives down the river from it. They have evacuated before. They know the drill. At this point, I'm just hoping that my parents are with my sister.  We will pray for them. As it turns out, my mind is overflowing also.

Melting

We are melting! Slowly, we hope, but we are melting. This brings me to a question. Why don't  people clear their driveway when it snows? I make my family  clear mine after each storm, because it is easier to get in and out of the driveway. The people across the street never clear theirs.  They have provided us with countless hours of entertainment as they have gotten stuck.   I have another neighbor digging out today. They have an ice pick.   Again, more entertainment. What have I learned from this icy, snowy, awful,  winter....Take care of the driveway one storm at a time.   As for the groundhog who is suppose to predict the end of Winter.   Around here, when I see a rock chuck, I know it is almost over and my friend has seen one.   Really?  That's what she said. I worry that it may be a weird rock chuck. The end is near. Yes, my fingers are crossed.
