Six Days to Travel Home
After visiting with family, I had planned to visit a couple of destinations because if you drive across the country, you might as well see a few things.
Day 1..... Nashville
We went to a show at the Opry. It was fun and we made some new friends.
I love a good show
Day 2. Paducah KY
The National Quilt Museum is a great stop for a quilter or any lover of beauty.
I felt like I was in Tula-land.
Tula Pink had an exhibit there that I really wanted to see. It was worth the wait, it's been there since March, and the drive.
Janet Stone, who I knew nothing about, also had her work displayed. It was marvelous and magical. I was happy to explore this whimsical exhibit.
Day 3. Indianapolis Indiana
This was a stretch, but we wanted to visit this lovely, accomplished, neice. It was awesome to visit with her.
We finished the day in Nauvuo Illinois with fireworks.
Day 4 Nauvuo Illinois
This historical village was good day.
Love the view of the Mississippi River.
I really wanted to see the new properties that the church had acquired from the Community of Christ. The Joseph and Emma Smith home and burial grounds.
And the Red Brick Store, where our tour guide shared some interesting insight into the beginnings of the Relief Society.
And maybe what I really sought for was the peace that you find in this place where the Saints found refuge from their storm before they headed out on a new journey.
Day 5 Iowa and Nebraska
My view as we came out oyf the hotel. What a great way to start the day; A sign of hope in the heavens.
Make no mistake, on our trip through Iowa to Council Bluffs, I was thinking about religious freedom. Our battles are not the same as theirs, but our battles are real. We have a group of people making list of religions they deem as Christians. What is going on in our country right now is pure evil. The battle is real.
I promised myself no tears, but we listened to the Tabernacle Choir broadcast and it was beautiful. Despite everything, we live in this beautiful country and the right will win.
Day 6 Wyoming and Home
It is always a pleasure to drive through Wyoming. A geographical change. A climate change. A place of diversity.
And then there is home. My place of refuge. My morning spot where I study, pray and in the Summer, watch turtles hatch and begin their life journey. (Oh how I love the Internet and the opportunities it gives us).
There's no place like home ...
The things we learn on road trips...
God bless America....
