Let's Have a Look-See

Callie says that I like General Conference because I can quilt and go to church at the same time. There is some truth to that, but this year, I just made a couple of receiving blankets. I put this together between the last session of Saturday Conference and the first session of Sunday Conference. It is cute, but I have no idea what I will do with it. It is a table topper. This is the quilt for Lucy. Courtney said to use pink and brown and Callie helped pick it out, so there are a few dots to go with it. It has taken me 3 weeks to get to this point, but I am not complaining about working. I will quilt it as soon as I finish this one. I should have no more than 3 hours left here...I hope. All three of these quilts came from the magazine, Quick Quilts.

I pieced this last summer, then I changed the outer boarder and started quilting it a couple of months ago. I finished the binding this morning and I love it. Not sure what I will do with it, but considering I keep losing quilts when the kids leave the house, I will have to hang on to it. I finished this one yesterday. I love this and Callie helped me pick out pinks and browns for Keith and Courtney. I can't wait to do this one again. I have finished my summer projects. I have some bags to make this week and then I have new fall projects. I think my winter projects will be some throws for the cancer center. I have been looking for patterns and I have some scraps that will make up nicely.

I love it when I receive a quilt magazine in the mail and can't wait to make something in it. This is from the Fons and Porter Love of Quilting magazine. When I saw it I just couldn't help myself, and started pulling fabrics from my stash. It is not done, but I put this part together the other day when I did not have to work. This issue has a couple of others I may try. I have to admit that I have had more sub jobs than I had anticipated. It is good to be back at work, but it takes away from sewing time.

The calender quilt grows This is a UFO I found, it needed a boarder and to be quilted, so I finished it up. Okay I started it two years ago. Bunny Hill BOM Here is my nieces quilt again. What you may not realize is that it is almost done and I am so surprised by this. The goal is to be done by Oct 31st, but it should be done in a couple of weeks. This is a block of the month put together. I love it and can't wait to start quilting it.

This is a little tiny piece, about 14 inches square, but I love it. A Doddle Quilt This quilt show always has Grandma's Garden quilts in it. But look at the fussy cutting that is in this quilt. This is lovely and hand quilted. Wagon Wheels This quilt almost has some motion to it. Love this and I believe it is hand quilted also. Love this one. Well, Uncle Rich, I am sorry to tell you that I went to a quilt show and it was so beautiful that I have decided to share it on my blog. This show is at the Springville Art Museum and if you live in Utah, get on over and see it before it is over, it's free and just fabulous. Remember you can click on the images to enlarge them. Enjoy! The Sacred Grove. I don't know how to do this or if I want to learn, but it is nicely done. These are 4 inch squares and they are buggers. Some ladies in my quilt group are working on it. This has the words to 'In the Leafy Tree Tops" on it. Reminded me of a lemon pie. All polka dot fabrics. When I saw this quilt I thought it was a scrappy pinwheel, but upon closer look, the pin wheels are log cabin squares. Amazing! This was one room, I will post so...

When I was a child, I looked forward to the fair. So it seemed natural for me to want to go to the fair after we moved to Jerome. The best thing about the fair is that it is free. You can visit the one building, that includes all entries and the vendors, see the 4-h and FFA animals in just about an hour. That is if you take time to stop and visit along the way. They do have a midway, but Rich did not want to ride the rides this year. As for me, there is no way I am riding anything that will be on trailer next week. The food is prepared by non profit organizations from the community and served with a smile by one of Wes's students. The fair only runs for 5 days and it is the place to be every night. My own children have grown to love it and nothing could make me happier.

Look what I got on the quilt frame! It is coming along very quickly too. My good friend Dixie helped me baste this together. It is going to be done in no time. Here are all of my BoM, and yes, I know there are two months here, I got a little busy in June, so I did two in July. The calender quilt is also caught up. I think I will use outdoor fabrics for August. Here is penguin quilt for Callie for her birthday, she loves all animals that start with 'P' : ponies, penguins, puppies and platypus. Interesting child. My mom sent me this pattern and I thought it was cute. But when I started reading, I noticed it had several different fabrics in it, in other words, it was more than I thought it would be. So I started collecting. The black has a multi-colored dot in it. I looked for that for a couple of months, until I stopped one day in Rupert and found it. It will now go on the 'to be quilted' pile.

This was supposed to be a throw, but it is too big, so I am going to take it apart and make two throws. This was very easy and once I make it smaller, I can machine quilt them. I have been collecting fabric with cherries on it for a couple of years. I made this scrappy quilt. It is queen size and fits on my quilt frames. This is another pattern from the Spring Quilts and More magazine. I still have another project going from the same magazine. And here is my hand quilting project. It is half done, so if I keep quilting here and there, I will be done in a couple of weeks.

Look! I finally finished the flip flop quilt. The flip flop blocks were made by the members of my quilting groups. I ran out of quilting thread with about 8 inches to go. I looked at the spool of thread to see how much thread I had used. I was shocked that it was 200 yards. Sometimes I have no common sense. I mean, a football field is 100 yards. No wonder it took so long.
