Let's Have a Look-See

I have been working on Christmas presents. I saw on facebook the other day: I had all the fabric and batting so I made it. It was a 12 inch square. Well, I had all the fabric, batting, backing and a pattern, so I made it. This is what I am working on for the goose. I have two patterns and I am enjoying it. I like the idea of a plastic pocket to keep the pieces in. I love these things. I only post it so that maybe you will want to make one too. Hey K, you better not show these pictures to the goose. I want her to be surprised! I had better get going, I have lots of work to do. Happy Thanksgiving!

I was pleasantly surprised to see this. Our county fair has no gate fee so the $$$$ prize is not too much, but it does pay for an elephant ear. $2 for the purple ribbon and $1 for the blue. I love life in the sticks.

I am still struggling with neck pain, but one thing I can do is hand quilt with a small hoop. So I had this little gingerbread quilt on the quilt frame, ready to quilt before I got hurt. So, I had Rich help me take it off the frame and have been working on it. It is going to be my fair entrance this year. So after I finished it, I realized that the hand quilting was a big part of my pain management program. Well, I had my Round Robin project, so I asked my very good quilting buddy, Dixie if she would come and help me get it ready for me to hand quilt. She came over and it was like having sunshine at the table. She also taught me a new skill. We shall see how I do with practicing it. Last, but not least, I did finish my other Canadian project (I got the Ginger Bread fabric in Canada too) and it is at the quilters. I will tell you more about it when I get it back and post a picture of it.

Here is my after Christmas project. I had all the fabric sitting there and knew that if I put it away for next year, I would not have a clue what to do with it (past experience). This project is in the Fons & Porter's November/December issue of Love of Quilting . I brought home the gingerbread men from Canada and had a very dear quilting buddy send me the boarder fabric when I saw this project. I will throw it on my 'to be quilted' pile and you can look forward to seeing it finished before July. I had to go to www.FonsandPorter.com/mborders to learn how to miter a corner. I had a little trouble with the instructions, so I asked Wes to read them (it was a word problem) and he was, "It is a basic algebra problem." Of course! I also had to make 15 of these. This is a 6 3/4 inch block. This pattern should have been paper pieced. If there is one thing I have learned about quilting this year it has been to trust the math! Happy New Year to all of you. I love it when I receive a quilt magazine in the mail and can't wait to make something in it. This is from the Fons and Porter Love of Quilting magazine. When I saw it I just couldn't help myself, and started pulling fabrics from my stash. It is not done, but I put this part together the other day when I did not have to work. This issue has a couple of others I may try. I have to admit that I have had more sub jobs than I had anticipated. It is good to be back at work, but it takes away from sewing time.
