Kirtland Temple

Image
I was reading this morning about the dedication of the Kirlland Temple. When we were in Kirlland I found that from the first glimpse of the temple my heart was touched.  The Saints worked and sacrificed so hard to build this House of the Lord. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord accepted this as His own.  I laid my hand flat on the wall and could feel the light. It was closed because of the Corona virus, but the Spirit testified to me that it was a House of God.

What a week

I stayed home to test again on Monday. It was negative, which means I can still get it. I did have something and still have some serious congestion.  I went to the local pharmacy to pick up some Musinic and found the shelves to be mostly empty.  I'm not alone.  They shut down my school on Tuesday.  Too many teachers out, not enough subs. We go back to work tomorrow.  Wes went back to work Tuesday.  It was probably too early. He still has a cough.  It's been a long two weeks. Lots of feelings about the way Idaho handles or doesn't handle this mess. School districts that are clueless and people with little to no brains leading us.  The virus I had was not fun. I don't want the real one. Social Distancing and masking for the win.  Celebrating a birthday. Great ice cream in the little town of Buhl Idaho. Clover ice cream and country roads.  Be safe.

Delta Variant

Wes tested  positive for Covid on Monday.  Callie, who was here on Sunday, tested positive on Saturday.  I have symptoms,  but tested negative yesterday.  They asked me to test again today. We are all vaccinated and can all be thankful that we will have anti- bodies for 90 days.  It is crazy in Southern Idaho.  You can only test with symptoms.  The amount of cases is crazy big. And no one is wearing a mask or staying home. Wes had a hard week. Can't imagine how it would be if he hadn't been vaccinated. Callie sounds like she has a bad cold. Stay away from people right now. You just don't know what you will pick up.

The Beginning of a New Year

It's a new school year. We are going full throttle with no Covid restrictions.  It's not that we have great Covid numbers. Actually,  we have Great, Big, Covid numbers and kids are getting sick this year. Our school board has chosen to forgo any Covid restrictions.  Should be interesting.  I have a nice class if 17.  I know, what happened to our kids? It's called a housing crisis. Turns out, the incredibly high housing cost + lack of affordable housing hurts the poorest population.  A lot of our families have had to move to other areas to live with other families.   Hoping for a good year. The self portraits are always interesting.

It's that time of year

I went out back to reflect on my favorite memories of summer.  The hummingbirds were buzzing and this memory #1. Such a peaceful place. #2 These trees and this beach #3 The walks, all of them. #4 Going to the pool 4 times a week.  I love my class and the people in it. And last: I have been blessed to visit with so many friends and family.  They are the best part of life.

One Last Adventure

Image
We had planned on going to Canada, but due to Covid issues, we didn't chance it . We meet up with Callie, Scott and Spencer for a Sawtooth hike and Some lake time.  I didn't make it to the lake. The sign lies, it is way more than 1.25 miles. My hiking buddies.  Sawtooth beauty.  Redfish  Pizza. We had a plate, Scott had a pizza.  Good day, live my family.

Home

We lived on Tein Falls for a very long time. I was born there in 1960 and we moved to California in 1977. We did have a four year move to Houston Texas in 1963, but this has always felt like home. I never thought my parents would come back here for a visit, but the yearning to see her cousins made my mom decide to make the journey.   Wes and I went to California on a Wednesday and brought them back on a Thursday. My dad loved the drive. He was alert and aware. When we got to the Magic Valley he said,  'Prettiest farmland anywhere.' It was extremely difficult to get him in and out of the car and into the restrooms, but it was a good day for him.  We drove to Challis on Saturday. When we walked in the house someone said, 'Text Connie, she's been waiting for Kay to get here.' It was a beautiful place. I know Uncle Joe would love how well Jack had taken care of the place. The family has grown and a new generation of tall, strong spirited. Anderso...
