Aboration

This is a 100% political post. So if you don't want to read --- don't. My social media feed has been splattered with Right to Life posts. Which is okay. I too, do not believe in abortion. I do believe that we need to work harder on teaching people not to get to point  where they feel they need an abortion.   We need to make birth control more available, work harder to help those with addictions,  and make adoption a better option. Oh yeah, and of course, support people who have babies and need help. In my little world, you shouldn't be 'right to life', but not 'right to support life'. I am talking financially.  I'm talking socially.  I'm talking emotionally.

Eagle Tree

Image
I like to call this the eagle tree. As it turns out, these eagles like to hunt in the nearby canyon and then hang out in this tree. This is a Winter thing. This tree is very well protected from people. It is impossible to get to, as this property is surrounded by barb-wired fences. I took a friend out here the other day. I told her,  take the 2nd Wendell exit. -We had a laugh that there are 2 Wendell exits- Then turn left after the little sign that says Buhl. Then keep going. Oh, there's a bar on the corner and the tree is right before that bar. That is the best I can do for directions. But there were about a dozen Bald Eagles sitting there. New ones glide in a take a branch all the time. I am always impressed. And I always ask, Why here? Why not?

Red Rock

Image
Our visit to St. George was a little chilly. Let's face it, the natives were in Arctic coats, but it was okay. I have to say that to me, there is nothing like the red rocks against the blue sky. We did two walks. The first one along the Virgin River. Not much red rock, but a beautiful day. The Virgin River is pretty ugly, just saying. It was a good walk.  Our next walk was at Chuckwalla. This was a beautiful walk.  Of course, Wes had to climb a mountain. I was looking out.   It is the most interesting landscape. What an interesting tree. This was the only branch till growing up. This was a good little walk. Then we went to Hurricane. I love that they put these signs up. It was a good little trip.

St. George Temple

Image
Long story, short, our son needed a ride to St. George, Utah to pick up a car. I said, "I'll take you there." Someone asked me if I want to be a snowbird. Yeah, there is a very strong possibility...in the future. Back to my adventure. We dropped off Richard and then spent a couple of nights there. I have mixed feelings about St. George, I love the weather, but am not sure about the town. Anyway, we just went by the temple for a look-see. I was engulfed in a memory of being at this very place with Wes's grandma, Eleanor Hall. She lived in St. George as a child and her dad worked in the temple at night. --maybe a night watchman-  She had let her kite go and it got stuck in the upper railings of the temple and he had got it down for her. My memory was a little fuzzy, but it was a sweet one. I love these windows on the 1st floor of the temple. And the palm trees.  Love it. Took a little stroll around the...

Christmas

Image
I was feeling bad, because I didn't take any Christmas pictures. but I looked on my phone and hey,  I found some weird  pictures. I took this picture of my tree and sent it to Callie. I was telling her I need a something new on my tree. But I decided it was okay. Sometimes at night, I sit really close to the tree. I like it then. These were made by Spencer. Holy Cow! They are amazing. The little ones are on post-it notes. I am amazed and in love with them. Here is another night I sat too close to the tree. Wes let the cat in and this was just too cute. I spent too much at Kohl's and got a bunch of Kohl's Cash. I went platter crazy this season, there are more. Oh yes, there were blurry people. Hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas!

Whew! Last week of school for the year!

Image
When school starts I always read this book.   It helps kids find their way around the school, But also sets them up for the day that we read this book This book teaches that the little things you do, can make other people very happy. We sang We wish you a Merry Christmas to the office. We gave thank you gifts to our intervention teachers. We made beautiful hand print Christmas cards for their parents. We made ornaments with their pictures on them. When Charlie the Veteran came into our room, one of the boys saluted him and of course, Charlie saluted back. One of the boys told Santa thank you for the Christmas letters he sent our class. All though I can't teach that Christ is the center of Christmas, I can teach behaviors that let them feel the spirit of the season. The other thing that happened this week  was that Sleep in Heavenly Peace built beds for two of my students. I can't tell you ...

Canadian weekend

Image
It is hard for me to believe that Lucy is 8 already. We went to Canada for her baptism.  Keith told the girls that if they cleaned up downstairs, they could have some frosting. It's a girls world in that house. This one is pretty serious. But she is good girl. Okay, so this is not the best picture, but you get the idea. Here is my oldest with his crew of pretty girls. This is Andrea and I love her to death. She is a fellow quilter, however,  this day we were working to get everyone feed. Lucy was very happy that day  and we are happy for her. It is a big step to decide to follow the Savior. We took a walk to the park to play in the snow. These skates are so darn cute. I went out on the ice. No skates, but no broken bones either. Learning is hard. There is also a snow hill. That little one loves to go down in the sled.  Let's face it, she just rea...
