Last Week of School

Image
I am looking at spending the last couple of days with this group. ( We were pirates one day) It has been one of those years. Someones mom died, Someones house burnt down, Someones dad got deported  I have paid for more lunches than you can imagine. and I had an opportunity to help the cutest little family that came across the boarder this summer. These are the kind of classes that stick to your heart. We had some happy times too. A foster child and his siblings are just about adopted, We have learned English, lots of English and I have learned how to count backwards from 10 in espanol . They even taught me how to say blast off. We have learned how to work as a group and how to share with those who need our help. And we have learned how to say Thank You to the people who help us. I will miss them, but I will keep track of them. And I will be so, so, so  happy to see  Summer!

Mothers Day!

Image
Happy Mothers Day! This is a day. I am thankful everyday that I still have my mother with us. The other day she said, "My  sons and grandsons are soft, like my dad, but my daughters and grand daughters are tough as nails, like my mothers family."  I couldn't ask for a better comment. (That would be my words of love and devotion to Mothers Day) We had a visitor this weekend. It is always good to visit and catch up with old friends. And of course, take them to visit our local attractions. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Tulips and Funerals

Image
In the Fall, I posted pictures from my walks; I thought it only fair that I post some Spring pictures too. I do have a thing for tulips, and they are everywhere around here. Even the trees have flowers now. I swear, I pulled out 50 or more of these bulbs last year. but they keep coming back. I have been to few funerals lately and I really want to share some thoughts, or should I say wishes for my own funeral. Please, please, please, No Viewing.  They are weird and uncomfortable and they force people to make comments like, "He looks very nice."  Excuse me, they are dead, they don't look good.  Please, please, please, No Pictures on the Program.  I mean really, no program would be okay with me.  Honestly, I have seen more ugly pictures on programs.  And the programs are on really nice paper.  I almost feel guilty about throwing it away after.  No Pictures or Nice Paper.  Use a Kleenex for the ...

Growing

Image
Last year I bought the cutest little plant in a little bunny planter. I have since transplanted it and boy did it grow this year. This one took longer, but it has grown also. Here's the thing. I never see the growth in these plants. They are in my window and when they grow, they face the sun. I have to take them out of the window and turn them around to see what they look like. I only see the back side of them. I just can't help but think that is how our own personal growth looks like. We really have to take a moment and examine ourselves to see the growth. Not only that, but the growth we see in other people is often seen from behind them. As they face the sun, we only see the their backs. Sometimes I need to take a minute and see that there is growth in me and others, I just can't see it. When we face the Son, we can't help but become better people.

Washington DC

Image
I have always wanted to go and visit Washington DC. We meet up with Todd and his family. Our first trip was to the Zoo. We had a great time and saw most of the animals. We had a picnic lunch. Callie and I in our 'First visit to the Zoo"  buttons. Our next visit was to The National Space and Air Museum in Virginia. There is a space shuttle in there. It was amazing. As I was walking around, looking at historic planes it was a very spiritual experience.  It helped to have the company of many veterans who were also there.  We also had a birthday celebration. The next couple of days were filled with  monuments.  picnics on the mall,  War memorials,  - the Korean War- WW II When you are six you want to see the White House... This is as close as we got to it.   Arlington National Cemetery. S...

Hope

Image
I hate it when life gets too crazy. There doesn't seem to be time for the little things. And let's face it, I enjoy the little things. Here is a picture of the Twin Falls Temple from about a month ago. The sky was beautiful that evening. I literally thank the heavens when the days get longer and the snow melts away. I have been watching my daffodils and tulips push up. And then yesterday, I found this one. It has a blossom on it. There is so much hope in nature.

So it Seems

I believed that my last post asked if it was Winter still. Turns out the answer is yes. The other day we had a lot of wet snow. The kids at school made giant snowballs, and got very, very, wet. We went to Kuna yesterday to help Callie and Spencer with some new flooring. When I say we, I mean Wes. He was a good sport. Callie and I did a little shopping and took Mosbey for a walk. Tomorrow should be a good day for sewing.
