Washington DC

I have always wanted to go and visit Washington DC. We meet up with Todd and his family. Our first trip was to the Zoo. We had a great time and saw most of the animals. We had a picnic lunch. Callie and I in our 'First visit to the Zoo"  buttons. Our next visit was to The National Space and Air Museum in Virginia. There is a space shuttle in there. It was amazing. As I was walking around, looking at historic planes it was a very spiritual experience.  It helped to have the company of many veterans who were also there.  We also had a birthday celebration. The next couple of days were filled with  monuments.  picnics on the mall,  War memorials,  - the Korean War- WW II When you are six you want to see the White House... This is as close as we got to it.   Arlington National Cemetery. S...

Hope

Image
I hate it when life gets too crazy. There doesn't seem to be time for the little things. And let's face it, I enjoy the little things. Here is a picture of the Twin Falls Temple from about a month ago. The sky was beautiful that evening. I literally thank the heavens when the days get longer and the snow melts away. I have been watching my daffodils and tulips push up. And then yesterday, I found this one. It has a blossom on it. There is so much hope in nature.

So it Seems

I believed that my last post asked if it was Winter still. Turns out the answer is yes. The other day we had a lot of wet snow. The kids at school made giant snowballs, and got very, very, wet. We went to Kuna yesterday to help Callie and Spencer with some new flooring. When I say we, I mean Wes. He was a good sport. Callie and I did a little shopping and took Mosbey for a walk. Tomorrow should be a good day for sewing.

Is it still Winter?

I keep saying that this is the best Winter ever. We had some snow, but it was around Christmas. Christmas snow is acceptable, but he haven't had much since. The only problem is that my little town is down right  UgLy  in the Winter. So I am counting my blessings. No snow, No indoor recess, and  The days are getting longer.

Aboration

This is a 100% political post. So if you don't want to read --- don't. My social media feed has been splattered with Right to Life posts. Which is okay. I too, do not believe in abortion. I do believe that we need to work harder on teaching people not to get to point  where they feel they need an abortion.   We need to make birth control more available, work harder to help those with addictions,  and make adoption a better option. Oh yeah, and of course, support people who have babies and need help. In my little world, you shouldn't be 'right to life', but not 'right to support life'. I am talking financially.  I'm talking socially.  I'm talking emotionally.

Eagle Tree

Image
I like to call this the eagle tree. As it turns out, these eagles like to hunt in the nearby canyon and then hang out in this tree. This is a Winter thing. This tree is very well protected from people. It is impossible to get to, as this property is surrounded by barb-wired fences. I took a friend out here the other day. I told her,  take the 2nd Wendell exit. -We had a laugh that there are 2 Wendell exits- Then turn left after the little sign that says Buhl. Then keep going. Oh, there's a bar on the corner and the tree is right before that bar. That is the best I can do for directions. But there were about a dozen Bald Eagles sitting there. New ones glide in a take a branch all the time. I am always impressed. And I always ask, Why here? Why not?

Red Rock

Image
Our visit to St. George was a little chilly. Let's face it, the natives were in Arctic coats, but it was okay. I have to say that to me, there is nothing like the red rocks against the blue sky. We did two walks. The first one along the Virgin River. Not much red rock, but a beautiful day. The Virgin River is pretty ugly, just saying. It was a good walk.  Our next walk was at Chuckwalla. This was a beautiful walk.  Of course, Wes had to climb a mountain. I was looking out.   It is the most interesting landscape. What an interesting tree. This was the only branch till growing up. This was a good little walk. Then we went to Hurricane. I love that they put these signs up. It was a good little trip.
