Let's Have a Look-See

Last Sunday we participated in the re-dedication of the Idaho Falls Temple . While there, I felt impressed to check out my own family history. So I found this document. Shadrack Empey was born the 21st day of June 1822 at Eatonbray, Bedfordshire, England. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the 21st day of November, 1851 at Whipsnaid, Bedfordshire, England by Daniel Matthews. He was confirmed on the 22nd day of November 1851 by Samuel Empey. He was twenty nine years old. He left Whipsnaid on the 8th day of January 1853 for Salt Lake City. Summer for those of us who work at a school is scared time. I am so very careful about what I plan, because I don't want to waste a minute. We are really busy this summer.   It will take all summer and every paycheck,  but we will get to see all of our kids, grand-kids and parents. Frankly, I can't wait. In the mean time I'm taking care of my flowers, quilts and house. I can't lie, one of my favorite things to do is go to Water Aerobics. Every evening, I go down to the pool and see the same people I saw last year, and we enjoy our time in the sun and water. Happy Summer!

My last week of school was a mixed bag. I did Kindergarten screening. Here is my thing: Rural Idaho needs to work on Pre-K skills. Most of it is with parents. It is not okay to bring in a kid that doesn't know Colors,  Shapes,  or how to use a writing stick  pencil. I can't tell you how many times I told parents You teach this in everyday conversation: Look, the plate is a circle or Do you like blue or green? Come on! What ever happened to the 1st three years? These poor kids are starting school at point 0 And we're left playing catch up. Daily rant over....I just needed to remember this, because I am going to start writing letters and I want to remember how I really felt.   And I have some suggestions.   Public Service Announcements .  Giving out information at hospitals, doctors offices and clinics.   Also public funding for preschool.   Something has to change if we want to grow....
