Let's Have a Look-See

I missed yesterday, not because I was shopping, but because Scott is using our computer to do homework  and has been doing TONS of research.   So what was I grateful for? I was grateful for a lovely weekend and spending it with these two. They have been great this weekend. They have worked hard, made me laugh, and even played a game or two. Love them. Now, for the last day of the month. Whenever we have the kids home, I pick a morning and make sourdough pancakes. My grandma used to make us sourdough pancakes when we would go visit, and my grandpa would make them when we camped. He made them in a cast iron skillet over a fire. The man was amazing. I hope that you don't mind a little nostalgia.   I have been thinking of these pictures all morning long. I am thankful for some very fun Thanksgivings at Grandma and Grandpa Hall's house. The kids always had a great time.   Here is Pam with Scott and Callie, and Todd in the corner, and here is Andrea with Callie. I have many happy memories of  food, family and fun. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

My mother always made great rolls. Not perfect rolls, but they always tasted great.   She made Parker house Rolls, which I can make, however, I make my rolls with the use of the bread machine. I am so thankful for it.  It always works. I love the honey wheat and the butter rolls. They may not be perfect,  but they taste good.

I am also very grateful for Todd, Katelyn and our very cute grandson. Even if they are BYU fans. Todd take good care of his family and Katelyn is fun and ever so patient with Peter. I just love them all. Let's face it, the best part of life probably starts with grandchildren.

Is it wrong to be thankful for Christmas before we have celebrated Thanksgiving? I know some people feel like we rush it. Well, I look forward to the Christmas Season. I love the lights, the music, and the smells. I  It's a time to think of others instead of yourself, therefor, people are more pleasant to be around. Only one month to go.

Three years ago, my life changed. I became a Grandma. I am grateful to Mama Cica to these adorable girls.  I am also grateful for their parents, who are doing a great job.

Today, I found myself in front of a church building. This building is were I went to seminary, and many a youth dance. I am thankful for the happy memories of my youth.

Today I am thankful for my friend Liz. She is talented, full of life, and an amazing friend. This women taught me how to quilt! I wish we lived closer, but I look forward to seeing her and until I do, I enjoy visiting with her on-line.

23 years ago, I knew I was going to have a Thanksgiving baby. It took him all day to decide to come out, and was born before the doctor came in the room. I think you always have to be thankful for baby born on Thanksgiving. Scott E....the best looking kid in the family or at least that's what Grandpa Hall always told me.

We lost our internet for a few days, so I will play catch up today.   First I am thankful for the country of Uruguay. I know, it seems odd, but it was there that I grew up. I made great friends there and hope to go back one day. Second, I am thankful that Rich has his drivers licence.   He has been grounded from the car this week, and really, it is worse for us than for him. And for today, I am thankful for our great neighbors. Besides the fact that they helped fix our internet issues, they help us all the time.   They moved to the neighborhood right before we did and I'm not sure what we would do without them. To be honest, I'm not sure what the neighborhood would do without them.

On this Sunday morning I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ .   It brings me peace, light and joy. I am grateful that I have religious freedom and to me,  that means that we can all worship how we choose.  Having mutual respect is an important part of religious freedom. I am grateful that I learned how to make these receiving blankets. I remember the day my mother taught me how. As a result, I have been able to give many of these as gifts. People always ask me how to make them, and when I tell them,  they always say, 'That doesn't work.' I tend to disagree, considering I make about 12 a year. So here are the two things that matter most. Use a Wing needle in the sewing machine and buy one of these.  There are two crochet hooks inside here. The metal one is perfect for these blankets. ( I have had mine for 12 years, but I bought a box just to make sure they are still inside) I know, you have a little hook, but it is not this little.

TGIF As always, I am so grateful for Fridays. For years, I was a stay at homer, and Fridays, well, they just were another day. Now, Friday means I get to stay at home. Love, love, love them.   Happy Friday to you.

I am grateful for my car. Do I want to drive a minivan?  No Do I like the color?  No Do I wish I could get a different car?  Yes Having said all of that, this little van runs everyday, it is paid for, and it can go up and over mountains without missing a beat. And that is the only way I can go see my kids.

Today I am thankful for music.  I can't imagine a world without it.   I am always surprised how many kinds of music I enjoy. For instance, I love Johnny Cash, but I also love the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I hate to admit it, but I have Christmas music on right now.

I am grateful for Callie. She is sunshine to my cloudy day. She is smart, lovely and snarky (which I love about her) She was a blessing to me from the day she was born.

On Veterans Day it is hard not to be thankful for a Vet. I am grateful for my father, who served in the Korean War. Thanks to all of those who have served this country.

I have hurt my knee and the computers is downs stairs,  so, in an effort to rest my knee yesterday, I didn't post. However, I knew what I was thankful for. I am thankful for Duck Dynasty. I know, I know, it's stupid, but it is funny. These guys make me laugh. Don't judge, they are good, God fearing, rednecks.

I am grateful for my mother. Even though I always said I would never be like her, I grew up to be just like her. We love all the same things; shoes, chocolate, sewing and family. She's the best.

There are somethings so simple, that we don't always notice them. Today, I am thankful for the sky. Some days it says, come and play. And some times it seems that God is watching us. And then there are nights when I look at the stars and feel so blessed. It is just one of those things that I am grateful for.

  Today I am thankful for these two doctors.  I was so  discouraged when we moved here that I would never find someone to replace Dr. Lunat, but after a few years, we found Dr. Brown. He has a great sense of humor and he really does listen to you whine.   Dr. Lunat was our Pediatrician in California.  He was awesome.  He gave us the sound advice to never take Scott to a restaurant when Scott was little.  Every time I took the kids in, he made me feel better.   

I am truly grateful for skype. It allows me to see my kids and grand-kids. I love seeing those cute little people. I am so thankful for it.

Sew , I mean, So, on day 5 I am thankful for this little corner of my life. have been sewing forever... I remember making my grandma a "purse" when I was really young. I was happy that she took it, but many years later,  she showed it to me and it was not so good. I made my first quilt when I was in High School, and then gave it up for some major construction projects. I love to have a few minutes to sit down and sew, because piecing brings me peace.

Today I'm thankful for Henry, make that Mr. Henry. He is in Kindergartner, he was like a wild child when the year started. Now he will do his work and then we go work on the ipad. He always has a boogers in his nose, he swears like a sailor, and he usually needs to wash his hands. I would like to smack his parents heads together, because they have no expectations for him, but I do and I will advocate for him. So why am I grateful for Henry? Because he gives me a big hug everyday,  he makes me smile, and says 'Don't leave' when it is time for me to go.

We drove to Idaho Falls today to support Rich's XC team. The things you will promise to a child about to have his appendix removed. And I decided that today I would be thankful for Idaho. Don't get me wrong.....I don't think it is perfect, or even close to perfect, however, I was born here,  my dad was born here, as was his father. There is something in the air,  and around here we all know it is dairy air, So today, I am thankful for Idaho.

We have had quite a week. You just never know what is going to happen when you wake up, or are woke up in  the middle of night by your 16 year old. But all is well. Every November, I post something I am thankful for everyday on facebook. But I was thinking it might be fun to post it here.... I'm not sure why. So on November 1st, I am thankful for Wes. He is an all around good guy. He works hard,  Keeps Richard entertained,  and takes care of our family. I love him. As a post script, my 16 year old son is doing great after a little  appendectomy, which I am also grateful for. (That he is doing great, not that he had an appendectomy) And the wind did blow this week,  but there a few leaves on the trees.
