Cauliflower

I have a confession.
I am scared of cauliflower.
There, I said it.
I hate the way it smells
and I'm afraid it will taste like it smells.

Yes, I've eaten it before, but I just can't get over it.

This cauliflower was a gift.
It is beautiful.

I am determined to eat it today.

I have turned to Pinterest for help.

I found this recipe, but I'm out of sour cream.
Not to mention that I don't do well with bacon.

Then there is this one.

Oh and this one.

Well, I've almost talked myself out of cooking it now.
Maybe I'll just put on the table for a centerpiece.

Owl Moon

Last night, when I was getting ready to go to bed.
I looked outside and saw the most awesome sight.
We still have snow in our back yard
and the moon was full.

It reminded me of this book.

I wanted to have an Owl Moon experience,
or at least walk outside
so I put on my coat and slippers,
walked to the edge of the deck,
and enjoyed the beauty of the full moon shining down on the snow covered earth.
It was beautiful.
Wish you could have seen it.
In fact, I hope you do someday.

Canada in the Winter

We went to Canada for the weekend.
The airplane gods were with us and we had great flights there and back.

So, what does one do in Canada during January?

Pretty much the same thing you do in the summer.
You just do it with a coat on.

Here we are reading.

There was a baby penguin at the zoo.
Can you see him?
He is that huge brown thing.
He is big boy, a King Penguin.

When he grows up, he will be able to hang out
in the out of doors with his father.

They had a baby giraffe too.
She was soooo cute.
I have a thing for giraffes.

The gorilla was laying next to the glass
with his foot up next to it.
It was fascinating.

Baby No-No came with us.

I don't feel like she saw much.

The girls had a great time.

This one is not bothered by the weather at all.

I had to take this picture.
My face was freezing,
but it wasn't too bad out there.

Grandpa had a tea party with the girls.

Our friend Andrea came by for a visit.
We are kindred spirits.

This is a look out of the back of Keith house.
Yes, it is as cold as it looks.
Yes, there are a whole lot of houses right  here.

We actually went for the blessing of Baby No-No.
Here is the cute little family.

And here is Baby No-No.
She is 3 month old.
We had to get there soon, or I was going to have
to make another dress.

The truth is, she is a sweet baby.

One More Year

Every year I ask the same question.
Why do I keep up this blog?

Truth be known, it is as close to a journal as I'm going to get.

I also love to post pictures of Idaho
and other beautiful places we visit.

And it is a great way to keep in touch with people.

So, it looks like I will be doing it for another year.

The sun came out yesterday.
I was happy about that.
Wes and I walked the canyon rim trail.
Don't get me wrong, it was cold,
but it was nice to get out.

And don't forget to look at the blue sky.

After Christmas

 The day after Christmas,
we jumped in the car
and headed to California.

What can I say?
Sometimes you just need to go visit your family.

We found some lovely mandarin oranges in Sutter California.

 While we were there,
we stopped by the cemetery.

We had a nice visit with my parents.

Here's my dad, 6 months after his stroke.

We hung out with Liz and Jeff.

Enjoyed the sunshine.
Visited with other friends and family.
All and all, we had a very nice trip.

Then it was back to Idaho.
It snowed most of the way through Nevada.

We came home to this.
Yes, it is happy,
but it is a frozen world here.
