Ogden Temple

We stopped at the Ogden Temple open house
on our way to Provo.

Very nice.

I always love the flowers outside the temple.

Emptying the Nest

Richard was ready to leave,
but his room wasn't.

I gave him a checklist.
Yes, printed from Pinterest.

This is how it always looks.

He went to work.

It worked....and he is gone.
I wish I could say that I am so sad,
but I am not.
He was ready and so was I.
I know he will be back soon.

Hail Storm

We had a little hail storm last week.

Really, it was a pretty good storm.

My flowers did not like it one bit.

But it has just been that kind of August.

The Beach

I love a Northern California Beach.
When I open the doorof the car and feel the coolness in the air,
I feel ..... perfect.

Our family has rather organic experiences there.
We like to be in it.

The kids took to it like they had been there before.

My kids were in the water within minutes.

I got to play in the sand with the little people.

Scott wanted to play to the waves.
He had a great time.

Couldn't make it too long without snacks.

Then it was back to work.

We are grateful to be able to borrow the wet suits and boogie boards.

It took two of us to take care of the little people.

I taught her how to chase the waves.
This one got me.

Then they got him.

It was a great day.

California and 60th Wedding Anniversary Party

We took our family on the road and traveled to California.

I must admit, that I only put this photo in, because I think the pine cone flying through the air is cool.
How do think that pine cone got there?
Todd, Wes, or Peter.

We had a family party that involved swimming.

Which was good, because it was HOT.

Some people made new best friends forever....
otherwise known as cousins.

My brother was there with his little boy.

These two became very good friends.

My sisters kids were there.

Here are the lovely ladies in our family.

And here are my parents.
Looking good as always.

My son sang a song for my parents.
I've seen this face many, many times.

Here are my kids visiting with each other.
It was a wonderful sight to see.

Here is some bonding time with Uncle Scott.

Here are some cousins.
I love their shoes.

We took some time to visit Grandma Hall
Yes, her piggies always defy gravity.

My other sisters kids.

And my favorite....the modern day family get together.
Notice all the phones are out.
Are they texting each other?
Are they all playing the same game?

I have no idea, but it cracked me up.

Birthday Cake

As we planned our trip to California, I realized that we would leave the day after Callie's birthday.
I really wanted Callie to come with us.
She is sunshine in the car sitting next to our 'little black rain cloud' otherwise known as Richard.
To come with us, she would have to drive on her birthday and
I wanted her to pick up Scott on the way.

In the end, I offered her money and the birthday cake of her choice.
This is what she decided on.

I like to bake.
I like to bake easy.
I like to bake fast.

This was none of the above, but we had a great time.

Perspective

We had a great weekend in California with the kids.
We took a few family pictures and I thought I would share a few.

The traditional Grandma and Grandpa with the adorable first grand kids.

And here we are with who they really are.

Here is our beautiful family.

However, this one captures our true personalities.
