Fall Walk

When I was in California a few weeks ago, Rich mentioned that I hadn't posted any of my walking pictures. He was so right. I have a terrible time switching from walking in the morning to the afternoon in the fall. And then I got sick and couldn't get better. So I came home and went to the doctor and after a couple of weeks, I finally feel better and I can breath, which is always a plus. After a horrible, windy, cold week, we had a lovely day today. You can still find leaves on the trees.
The corn is long gone.

However, there are still sugar beats, and these are some of the last ones. I would except these to be harvested any day now. Jerome sits in the distance and it looks like we still have some fall colors to enjoy.

The 5 Little Ghosts Story

This is the story of 5 little ghost who lived on a diet of white milk, vanilla ice cream and cottage cheese. Then one day they were left at home alone.
The first little ghost found some blue berries and had a bowl full. (turn him over)
The next little ghost found some cherries and ate a few. (turn him over)

Then a little ghost found some grape juice in the fridge and upon drinking a glass (turn him over)

Then a little ghost found his mothers stash of chocolate chip cookies and (turn him over)

And last a little ghost found some carrots and nibbled only to. (turn him over)

When the mommy ghost came home, this is what she found

She called the doctor and who put them on a diet of milk, ice cream and cottage cheese, which turns them back to their ghostly color.
Okay, I was pulling this story to take to Kindergarten with me this week and thought that some of you might enjoy it. In a world where everything is electronic, this story is always a hit in Kindergarten. This is my 3rd set of ghost since it was presented to me some 25 years ago. So get some card stock, glue and a sharpie. The element of surprise is what makes this fun. I do it on a white board with magnets to hold them up. Try it.

Traditions

My children always say we have no traditions in our family. Now that is silly, because we have many traditions, but maybe because they only happen once a year, they haven't noticed.
When Keith was a just 6 weeks old, Wes brought home a pumpkin for him to carve. Ridiculous, yes it was, but we have always had pumpkin carving the FHE before Halloween since that time.

Blah, blah, blah, your life is worth squat.

Many years ago my son, Keith, gave a talk in Primary in which he said that Abinadi said to King Noah, "Blah, blah, blah, your life is worth squat." I had this in mind when I subbed today in seminary were we went over Mosiah 11-14.
I have subbed in early morning seminary, but never had to give the same lesson 4 times over. As it turned out, it is a different lesson with each group. I had a good read of the chapters and enjoyed the experience. Also of interest is that the church pays its' subs more than the school district. Ummm, very interesting.

Block of the Month

This project takes a year to do but it is very fun to see the results. This is my small quilt group and we did a block of the month. Some of these women had never quilted before, so it was fun to see it shape up. I was never crazy about these colors, but I love it put together.

This one is made by a first time quilter. She decided to make 2 of each, and she still has a her boarders to put on, but she did a great job.
Mine.

My friend Dixie's.

This one is adorable.

And I love theses colors. If you ever get the chance to do a block of the month, consider doing it.

October

I love fall in Idaho. These willow trees are around every corner of this town. The only sad part is that they will be bear for a long time after this.
Happy Friday !

Block of the Month

I know that I am a few days late posting Septembers work, but better late than ever.

Here is my quilt group Block of the Month, only one more left.

Bunny Hill Block of the Month, not sure I won't redo it.

I quilted this little quilt this month and put boarders on this one.

This little quilt is very scrappy, but I think it came out okay.

Road Warrior

My parents
Blake and Andrea

These are my siblings, minus one. Ty came drove 750 miles, Lynn flew from Boise and I came my 610 miles. It was fun seeing them.

I truly enjoyed my lunch and road trip with Liz from Miss Lizzy. Thanks Liz!
After spending a couple of weeks trying to decide, I called Ty on Wednesday and made arrangements to go to our nephews wedding. I met him in Wells, Nevada on Friday morning and we did the rest of the trip together. It was most enjoyable. Good Choice!
His kids were great in the car, but I missed Callie and Rich. No one would sing with me and there is nothing like hearing Callie play game boy.
I enjoyed spending the morning at the temple and seeing some friends from Stockton.
I also enjoyed seeing Wes's family at the reception, not to mention some old friends.
Life is too short not to get out and spend it with your family. I look forward to the next wedding, mostly because I don't have to travel!

Fall Garden

We are having are first frost today. I guess that means that the garden is done for the year.
1. The fence worked out great! No bunnies in the garden
2. Loved the onions, will plant them again next year.
3. I moved the tomatoes this year and I am moving them back next year.
4. I love the entire garden experience. Yes, that means having Wes get the ground ready, having Todd put in the fence, making Callie weed, and my jobs, which are planting, watering and picking.
I am always amazed that Idaho is an agriculture state because the growing season is so short, but I always enjoy our own growing season.
