The calender quilt grows

This is a UFO I found, it needed a boarder and to be quilted, so I finished it up. Okay I started it two years ago.

Here is my nieces quilt again. What you may not realize is that it is almost done and I am so surprised by this. The goal is to be done by Oct 31st, but it should be done in a couple of weeks.

This is a block of the month put together. I love it and can't wait to start quilting it.

What a Week!

These pictures are from my walk. These weeds or flowers, line the walking path this time of year and the corn is tall and will be ready to harvest soon.

After what seemed like the longest summer on record, we finally made it to back to school week. It has been interesting. Callie had the first day of her last year of school. We are also celebrating our last year of Middle School --- Yeah --- and I am living with a college student.

The living with a college student is new to me and a very interesting experience. I am extremely grateful that my three college students have their tuition and books taken care of. Life is good.

New Trick

I am proving that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Last week I went to my favorite quilt show, so this week I went with Todd and Rich to one of Jerome's biggest event of the year: Joe Mamas Car Show. This is a big show and attracts about 40,000 people. Since we have that many people visiting our town, the police department stays busy giving out speeding tickets. I tried to take a few pictures but to be honest, I am no expert.

These little campers are so darn cute. To be honest, I have no idea how they slept in them.

I think my biggest issue with car shows is that they call the cars that I used to drive around 'classics'. I guess that means that I am a classic too. Not sure how I feel about that.

Just love this valley. Scott has had a great summer but comes home in just a couple of days to go to school.

The End of the Show

Okay, I promise, this is all of them. I have truly enjoyed reliving this experience.

This is called, Disappearing Garden. The use of metallic threads for quilting really changes the way these quilts look.

This was made by a woman who was losing her sight. She said she sewed most of it with her eyes closed. My quilts just look like I had my eyes closed.

This was the 'best of show' and it was. It has tiny piecing, which I hope is paper piecing and all and all, just a beauty.

More, More, More

This quilt won best use of color.

The piecing in the middle of this quilt is teeny tiny.

I never did figure out how they did this. Some of it is folded so it has a 3D effect.

Amazing

This women had been on a mission to Russia. This was a queen size quilt.

These blocks were machine embroidered. Very beautiful.

More Quilts

This is a little tiny piece, about 14 inches square, but I love it.

A Doddle Quilt

This quilt show always has Grandma's Garden quilts in it. But look at the fussy cutting that is in this quilt.

This is lovely and hand quilted.

This quilt almost has some motion to it.

Love this and I believe it is hand quilted also.
